About Delong's Gizzard Equipment
DeLong's Gizzard Equipment was started in the 1940's by Horace DeLong of Gainesville, Georgia. His Crew of 15 to 20 men and 5 trucks, were known as the "wildcat operation”, and began installing and troubleshooting poultry operations in processing plants all over the eastern half of the United States. After continuing to work this way until 1985, Horace began to manufacture his own design of Gizzard Peeler Rollers. Horace DeLong attained much success and recognition in the industry until his death in 1992.
Pat DeLong, his daughter, took over the family business at that time. She had started in the business in 1965 and was a seasoned veteran in her own right. She worked side by side with her father in the poultry plants and also traveled the country selling the company's peeler rollers. These "DeLong Rollers" quickly became known as "The Best" on the market. The DeLong family business, with Pat at the wheel, still today manufactures top quality rollers with pride along with the highest standards set by Horace DeLong.
In 2006, Pat turned over the direction of DeLong's everyday operations to her daughter, Mary. Mary has a strong sense of corporate responsibility after years of training and a degree in Business Management. With the family values still intact, Mary is determined to reach DeLong's economic, financial and developmental goals. Mary has 2 sons who plan to join the company after completing their education.
DeLong's engineering staff is headed by Russ Theriault. Russ has brought DeLong's computerized equipment on line to hold our work to the smallest of tolerances. The engineering team consistently responds to the ever changing needs of the poultry industry. DeLong's expertise is in the area of gizzard production both in the chicken and turkey industries. Russ, as one of our troubleshooting consultants, is always designing and implementing ways to safely attain better peeling and skinning.
